While attending high school I joined the Canadian Forces Reserves (2RNFLDR) as an Infantry Soldier. In 2010 I was attach posted with 2RCR and deployed to Afghanistan with the Provincial Reconstruction Team. My time and training taught me invaluable skills.
After achieving my Heavy Equipment Operator diploma, I went to work in the construction industry in Newfoundland. While most of my heavy equipment operating was in an excavator, it allowed me to demonstrate my attention to detail and problem solving qualities; however, construction in Newfoundland is seasonal in nature, which led me to look into changing careers.
Completing the software development program with Get Coding provided me with the necessary tools and knowledge to work as a fullstack software developer. Currently I am working as a mobile frontend consultant with a start-up tech company in St. John's, NL, working with a team of other developers to create the MVP(minimum viable product).
